LAURA MANINO

It is possible to read my work as a conquest of territories, from the union of the stitches that build the image and the combination of abstract elements generated by the technique of embroidery.

I give as much value to the spaces occupied by the thread as to the empty spaces that become amplifiers and amalgamations of the whole image. The meticulous colonization of the stitches, which I understand as an army of miniatures, occupies fragments and manages to organize the uninhabited territories, as if it were a region (not yet) conquered.

Inhabiting the small, placing the axis in the introspective work, reveals the stopped time and also the control. This idea evolves in the construction of each piece, through the use of operations that make them complex and maximize them in the context of the events that constitute them.

This opens a reflection on the idea of a kind of mastery that is born in the reading of something as insignificant as an embroidery stitch, building from the small a much more grandiose plot of relationships.
